The summary below provides an overview and describes some of the ways donors can help strengthen Vista’s programs, services, and facilities for students. Annual Appeal
This program raises funds every year for Vista’s current needs. Donations are used to support Vista’s operating budget, providing programs and services for Vista students and members. Volunteers help as committee members, organizers, and as Phonathon callers, to increase the number of donors and dollars raised annually.
Special Events
Vista has 3 fundraisers that take place annually: The Starlight Benefit Ball each spring, the Drive for Independence Golf Tournament in the fall, and the Walkathon during Fall Family Weekend. The significant funds raised from these special events are essential to Vista’s operating budget each year and are used for current programs and services. Many volunteers help organize these fun events, and others seek out families and community members to donate gifts for prizes, raffles or auctions.
Capital Campaigns
Several very successful major fundraising campaigns have been mounted to underwrite renovation and construction projects on the Vista campus, including renovating student rooms in The Residence, and building the Westbrook Training Center and adjoining administrative office. Volunteers help Vista find supporters within and beyond Vista to expand the base of support.
The Great Expectations Endowment Campaign
The Great Expectations Campaign is the most significant effort ever undertaken to strengthen Vista’s mission for the years ahead. Its goal is to raise a strong multi million dollar endowment to underwrite Vista’s future programs and services. The Endowment Committee provides leadership for this major fundraising campaign. Volunteers host receptions and meetings to spread the word to a wider group of supporters. To administer the Endowment, a separate foundation has been formed, the Vista Endowment Fund, Inc., with its own board of directors.
