Starlight Benefit Ball
Held each spring, this festive community event features an elegant dinner, silent auction, raffle, live music for dancing and more! The Ball is Vista 's primary fundraiser, organized and run by 50+ volunteers and attended by 275+ guests. This annual event is a shoreline tradition, held at Water's Edge Resort.
Spring Family Weekend
Vista families gather each spring in Westbrook to attend workshops and meetings focused on Vista's programs and current issues of interest. Often a dance or an evening social activity is part of the program. This mix of educational and social activities provides a chance for families to immerse themselves in the Vista experience, to share with other families and staff, and to learn more about planning for their son's or daughter's future.
Graduation Ceremony
Every summer relatives and friends are invited to Vista to the celebration ceremony for students who are graduating from the three-year Entrance Program to become Outreach Program members. A reception follows for students, families and guests.
Drive for Independence Golf Tournament
In September, Vista holds its annual golf tournament. This is a fall day of fun that is Classic Connecticut at its best. Great golf and super prizes make this a special tournament.
Annual Meeting and Fall Family Weekend
In October, families attend a three-day program that includes opportunities to network with other families and staff, to participate in workshops and presentations and to attend the Annual Meeting, hosted by the Board of Directors. Vista's Annual Lecture Series features an important public figure in the field of developmental disabilities. In the evening celebration, Ten Year Anniversary Awards are presented to Outreach Program members and to staff who have been at Vista for a decade. Outstanding members of the community, who have given generously of their time and talents to enhance Vista 's programs and help Vista 's students, are also honored at the Annual Meeting.
Vista Walkathon
This popular event is an annual highlight on the Sunday morning of Fall Family Weekend. Held at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, this is a leisurely walk along the boardwalk on the beach, with full views of Long Island Sound, in the company of Vista students, families, staff, and community members.
