Second Step
A personal meeting and a tour of the Westbrook campus can be scheduled for the potential student and his or her family.
Third Step
A five-day vocational and life skills evaluation visit is arranged for the prospective student to determine the interest and readiness of the individual for acceptance into Vista.
Acceptance Criteria
Vista Vocational & Life Skills Center accepts individuals who:
- are 18 years old or older
- have a neurological disability
- are motivated to work and have the potential to live independently
- have a basic ability in self-care
- do not require 24 hour supervision
- are developmentally ready to make a commitment to a comprehensive residential and community-based program
- have a level of appropriate behaviors that would enable them to be successful in dormitory and apartment based living
Individualized Program Developed
After reviewing records and assessments, Vista staff members develop a program designed solely for each entering student. Because of the individualized nature of Vista's program, students may begin whenever there is an opening.
